Hebard (b. 1940) is a physicist who was instrumental in the 1991 discovery of superconductivity in Buckminsterfullerene. After receiving his bachelor’s degree from Yale University, Hebard received a Ph.D. from Stanford University. He eventually joined the faculty of the University of Florida in 1996, earning the title of Distinguished Professor in 2007. A recipient of the James C. McGroddy Prize for New Materials by the American Physical Society, and a co-recipient of the 2015 Oliver E. Buckley Condensed Matter Prize, Hebard’s work has mostly focused on thin-film physics and the use of grapheme for solar cells. Upper left-hand corner creased and lower left-hand corner gently worn.
