Energy Giants Unite: Citaglobal and PETRONAS Set to Spark Renewable Revolution! – In a groundbreaking partnership, Citaglobal Bhd and PETRONAS Global Technical Solutions Sdn Bhd (PGTSSB), a subsidiary of Malaysia’s esteemed energy conglomerate PETRONAS, have inked a momentous Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on an extensive array of renewable energy technologies and applications.

The agreement was formalized at the highly anticipated Energy Asia conference, with the signing ceremony witnessing the presence of distinguished executives from PETRONAS, including Datuk Bacho Pilong, Senior Vice President of Project Delivery & Technology, and Encik Noor Ilias Mohd Idris, Vice President of Group Project Delivery, Project Delivery & Technology. Representing Citaglobal were Tan Sri (Dr.) Mohamad Norza Zakaria, the Executive Chairman & President, and Puan Annaliz Abu Bakar, Chief Executive Officer of PETRONAS Global Technical Solutions Sdn Bhd.

PGTSSB, renowned for its provision of technology products, technical services, project management, and engineering solutions, serves as a subsidiary of PETRONAS, a global energy player with a significant presence in over 100 countries.

The strategic collaboration between Citaglobal and PETRONAS will encompass a wide spectrum of renewable energy technologies and applications, spanning the realms of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), biogas engines, biomass engineering, Waste to Energy (WTE), Heat to Energy (HTE), and Carbon Capture & Utilization (CCU), among others.

The key focus areas identified for collaboration under the MoU include:

a) Advancing the development and implementation of BESS applications and projects, with Citaglobal Genetec BESS Sdn Bhd (CG BESS) spearheading the provision of cutting-edge technology and solutions. CG BESS, a 50:50 joint venture between Citaglobal and Genetec Technology Bhd, has made substantial strides in the sector, having recently launched MYBESS, the first-ever Malaysian Battery Energy Storage System. As part of the partnership, MYBESS will be deployed at PETRONAS’ prestigious Center of Excellence for Renewable Energy (CEFORE) to expedite technological advancements and bolster sustainable electricity generation. Additionally, the collaboration will involve a comprehensive feasibility study aimed at scaling up BESS technology solutions across PETRONAS’ existing and future facilities.
